A dermal filler is an injectable treatment that can be used to add volume to your lips, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and add extra shape to your face. It is a rapid but effective solution for ageing, giving you a more youthful look in a matter of minutes. Most fillers contain hyaluronic acid, but they may also contain poly-L-lactic acid, collagen or other substances.
Before booking this treatment you’ll firstly have to arrange an initial consultation with us. That way, we can assess your condition and decide whether dermal fillers is a suitable solution for you. The consultation costs €50, which will be deducted from the price of the treatment – should you decide to go ahead with it.
How do dermal fillers work?
Dermal fillers can contain a number of different things, but they’re most commonly associated with hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally found within your body. When you inject it, you’re literally ‘filling’ the target area with more hyaluronic acid. This may help to smooth out wrinkles or plump your lips, depending on your desired outcome.
When will I start to see results?
Unlike anti-wrinkle injections with botulinum toxin (Botox), the results of dermal fillers can be seen instantly, and tend to last between six and nine months.
If you want to keep the effects of the fillers, you’ll have to come back to the clinic for a ‘top-up’ treatment.
Are there any possible side effects?
Because you’re injecting a naturally-occurring substance into your body, the risks associated with dermal fillers are fairly low. However, there are a few things to watch out for.
The most common side effect of dermal fillers is a little redness around the treated area. Sometimes, if your skin is particularly sensitive, this may turn into light bruising.
