The scars that remain on your face after an acne outbreak can look unsightly and lead to feelings of anxiety about your appearance. But acne scars are more common than you might think, and they’re often treatable. We offer a range of acne scar removal treatments, which depend on the type of scar and severity of the condition. These include laser skin resurfacing, Subcision, TCA skin peels, Fraxel and RF Microneedling using the Lutronic Infini.

What causes acne scars?

Acne scars are the result of inflammations on your face. It’s important to treat the acne as quickly as possible to avoid scarring.

Acne scars generally come in two forms: depressed or raised scars. Depressed scars sit below the skin, while raised scars appear above the surface of the skin.

Some types of scars, such as Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) or Post Inflammatory Erythema (PIE), can be treated once the acne outbreak is controlled. Others, such as ice pick, boxes and atrophic will need multiple sessions spaced 6-8 weeks apart.

Should I be worried about my acne scars?

Once your acne has receded and just scars remain, the problems are more cosmetic than health-related, and they’re nothing to worry about from a medical point of view. However, they could lead to feelings of anxiety about your appearance if not treated correctly.

Is it possible to completely remove acne scars?

In some cases it is possible to completely remove acne scars from your skin, but in practice this is very rare. The appearance of the scars can be improved rather than the expectation of eliminating them entirely.

How does acne scar removal work?

We use a wide variety of techniques and laser equipment to treat acne scars.

According to your skin type and the type of scars you have, we will put in place a treatment schedule that will include various techniques. Because of the time it takes for your skin to repair itself between each session, your treatment will be carried out over several months.

We use the following equipment and techniques:

Subcision is a treatment that improves depressed scars . These scars are caused by fibrous tissue pulling down on the skin’s surface, creating an indentation with sloping edges. They’re most common in areas of the face like the lower cheeks and jaw, where the skin is thicker.

It works by using a needle to break up the tissue band that’s tethering the top layer of skin to the lower dermal layer. Once the tether is broken and the fibrotic strands of scar tissue are released from the dermis, the depression lifts. Over time, the skin produces new collagen as part of the natural healing process, creating a smoother, more even texture.

This can be an especially effective treatment for the acne scars, including rolling scars. Research shows that the technique is safe and provides significant long-term improvement for some patients.

To get maximum skin-smoothing results for pockmarks, subcision can also be combined with microneedling, chemical peels (such as TCA Cross), and laser treatments, such as Fraxel, CO2 and Infini Microneedling RF.

TC Cross and Paint is a technique using high concentrations of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) focally on atrophic acne scars to induce inflammation followed by collagenisation. This can lead to reduction in the appearance of scars and cosmetic improvement.

Medium Peel Easy TCA® Pain Control is a unique hybrid trichloroacetic (TCA)/phenol based peeling, which newly patented technology allows EASY TCA® Pain Control to safely give results comparable to a papillary dermis depth, with a very discrete burning sensation only.

CO2 Laser is a type of skin treatment used by dermatologists or physicians to reduce the appearance of acne scars, deep wrinkles, and other skin irregularities. It is a non-invasive procedure that uses laser, specially made of carbon dioxide, to remove the outer layers of damaged skin.

Pixel is a fractional laser treatment that targets sun damage, early signs of aging and acne scarring. It produces visible results after just one session and is considered safe for all skin types.

Fraxel: is a safe and non invasive laser skin treatment that can resurface damaged skin, this laser stimulates your body’s own natural healing process, replacing the old and damaged cell with fresh, glowing, healthy skin.

These are just some of the techniques and equipment that we offer to our customers.
